The Importance of Dawah Among Non-Muslims in the Modern Era

Honourable teachers, respected judges and my dear brothers, Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullah.

Today I am going to talk about a very important topic: "The Importance of Dawah Among Non-Muslims in the Modern Era."

Dawah means inviting people towards the truth with kindness, patience and wisdom. It is not only speaking; it is showing the beauty of Islam through our character and behaviour. Allah says in the Qur’an: “Invite to the way of your Lord with wisdom and beautiful preaching.” This ayah teaches us that Dawah must be done with good manners and good character.

In the modern era, the world has changed a lot. People from different religions, cultures and countries stay connected through the internet, social media and technology. Because of this, information spreads very fast. But unfortunately, many misunderstandings about Islam also spread very quickly. Many non-Muslims do not know what Islam really teaches. Some think Islam promotes hatred, some think Muslims are against peace. These wrong ideas come from media, movies and lack of knowledge.

So, in this modern time, Dawah has become more important than before. If we do not explain Islam, others will give wrong explanations. Therefore, we must present the true message of Islam to non-Muslims with calmness and good manners.

The first importance of Dawah is that it removes misunderstandings. When we speak gently and explain the teachings of Islam, people start to understand that Islam is a religion of peace, justice and mercy. Our Prophet Muhammad (SAW) was known as Al-Amin – the most trustworthy – even by non-Muslims. His character attracted people to Islam more than anything else.

The second importance of Dawah is that it builds good relations between Muslims and non-Muslims. When we talk with respect, people feel comfortable. Hatred decreases and peace increases. Today the world needs peace more than ever. And Islam teaches peace. So when Muslims give Dawah with a smile and soft behaviour, it creates unity and understanding.

The third importance is that our good behaviour is also Dawah. Sometimes we do not need to speak; our actions speak louder than words. When non-Muslims see honesty, kindness, good manners, respect for elders and love for humanity in Muslims, they naturally become interested in Islam. The Prophet (SAW) taught us that a good Muslim is the one who has the best character.

The fourth importance is that modern technology makes Dawah easier. Today we can spread the message of Islam through social media, videos, articles, and conversations. We can talk with people from any country. This is a big opportunity for Muslims. With a simple message or a short video, many people can learn about Islam.

Another important point is that Dawah is not about force. Islam clearly says, “There is no compulsion in religion.” Our duty is only to explain the truth. Guidance comes from Allah. We must speak politely, not argue harshly. We should answer questions with knowledge and respect.

Dear brothers, Dawah is not something only scholars can do. Every Muslim can do Dawah through simple actions—like helping others, speaking nicely, and showing good manners. If we live as true Muslims, people will see Islam through us.

In this modern era, many people are searching for peace, happiness and purpose in life. But they do not know where to find it. Islam gives answers to all these questions. If we present Islam in a beautiful way, many hearts will open. And even if they do not accept Islam, at least they will respect Islam and Muslims. This is also a great success.

Finally, Dawah is a responsibility and a great honour. Allah chooses the best people to spread His message. So we should try our best to represent Islam in the best manner. If we do Dawah sincerely, Allah will reward us, and our small efforts can become a source of guidance for many people.

May Allah make us good representatives of Islam. May He give us the wisdom, patience and good character needed for Dawah in this modern era. Ameen.

Thank you so much.
