Following Islam – Doing Good and Avoiding Evil

Introduction

Islam is a way of life. It teaches us how to live with peace (শান্তি), love (ভালোবাসা), and truth (সত্য). Islam guides us in every step of life. The Qur’an and the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) are our light (আলো).

Doing Good

Islam tells us to do good deeds (কাজ). Good deeds are simple. We can smile (হাসি) at people. We can help our parents. We can give food to the poor (দরিদ্র). We can speak kind words (ভদ্র শব্দ). We can respect elders and love children.

Prayer (নামাজ) is a good deed. Fasting (রোযা) is a good deed. Giving charity (দানের কাজ) is a good deed. Even removing a stone from the road is a good deed. Every small good action has value (মূল্য) in Islam. Allah loves those who do good.

Avoiding Evil

Islam also tells us to stay away from evil (অপকর্ম). Evil means lying (মিথ্যা বলা), stealing (চুরি করা), cheating (প্রতারনা করা), and hurting (ক্ষতি করা) others. Evil means speaking bad words and showing bad behavior (অভব্য আচরণ). Evil brings harm (ক্ষতি) to us and to people around us.

The Qur’an says we should not follow the path of Satan (শয়তান). Satan wants us to do wrong. But Allah wants us to be pure (বিশুদ্ধ), honest (সৎ), and kind (ভদ্র).

Commanding Good and Forbidding Evil

One duty (দায়িত্ব) of Muslims is to command good and forbid evil. This means we should encourage (উত্সাহ দেওয়া) others to do good. We should remind our friends to pray. We should help people be honest and kind.

We should also stop wrong things. If someone is doing bad, we should tell them gently (শান্তভাবে). We should not stay silent when we see injustice (অন্যায়). Islam teaches us to correct (সংশোধন করা) with wisdom (বুদ্ধি) and kindness.

Why It Is Important

Doing good makes our heart pure. It gives peace to our soul (আত্মা). It makes our family and society (সমাজ) strong. Avoiding evil saves us from problems and punishment (শাস্তি). A good society grows when people help each other in good and stop each other from evil.

Allah says in the Qur’an: “You are the best nation (জাতি) raised for mankind (মানবজাতি). You command good, forbid evil, and believe in Allah.” (3:110)

Conclusion

Islam is not just words. It is action (কাজ). It is living with truth, kindness, and justice (ন্যায়). We must do good deeds every day. We must avoid bad deeds every day. We must call people to good and warn them against evil.

If we follow Islam in this way, our life will be peaceful. Our society will be good. And Allah will reward (পুরস্কৃত) us in this world and the Hereafter (পরকালের জীবন).
